I am a political scientist working on finding impeding and supporting elements for policy implementation conducive to sustainable environmental governance. My central focus lies on the fields of water and flood risk governance and on participatory decision-making. I hold a Magister Artium degree in Political Science, which I completed at the Ludwigs-Maximilian-University Munich and the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, Mexiko.
Since 2013, I am part of the Research Group Governance, Participation & Sustainability through the ERC-funded project EDGE. In EDGE, we investigate the effectiveness of participation in environmental governance. Within the project, I am mainly concerned with collaborative and participatory planning in European water and flood risk governance under the EU Water Framework and the EU Floods Directive. For this aim, I am involved in a comparative case study on participatory river basin management in Germany, Spain and the UK, as well as a border study on participatory processes of flood risk management in different German Federal States.
My PhD project investigates systematic learning in water governance through adaptive measures and participation, as well as policy learning through the iterative employment of policy instruments.
